JICON octagonal plate with sumi corners
Series of geometrical plates that combine the East and West. Japanese traditional shapes can also be used to serve Western style cuisine designed by Oji Masanori.
The SUMI corner plates are designed based on traditional details of the Arita ware. The SUMI corners come in different shapes of plates, diamond, hexagonal and octagonal.
By introducing this line in different sizes of plates, although they hold a Japanese taste, they are designed to project an air of Western soft-paste porcelain from the 18th-19th century offering a fusion of the East and West.
Perfect for Japanese cuisines, such as raw fish (sashimi) dishes, self-serve dishes, as well as Western cuisines such as one plate dishes or for serving many people in parties.
Diamond Plate with SUMI corners (w214 x d154 x h24mm)
Hexagonal Plate with SUMI corners (w270 x d270 x h25.5mm)
Octagonal Plate with SUMI corners (w389 x d263 x h30mm)
JICON is a porcelain brand launched together with a Japanese designer, OJI Masanori. The brand name means "porcelain (JI) in modern times (CON)." In the Buddhist words, JICON means "seize the day." It also denotes "porcelain (JI) created by the house of IMAMURA" of the Touetsugama kiln, founded 350 years ago. (Note that "IMA" means "modern times" in Japanese and can be paraphrased as "CON.") The founder of the JICON brand, IMAMURA Hajime, later in 2014 became independent as IMAMURA Porcealin. IMAMURA Porcelain makes porcelains for daily life with their traditional white porcelain techniques using Amakusa Touseki (porcelain stone).
