Following the international success of the exhibition ‘Jeff Koons Versailles’ in 2008, and the remarkable creation of site -specific works by Xavier Veilhan in 2009, now Takashi Murakami has been invited to present his works at Versailles. By creating new works for this occasion, his first retrospective in a French institution, and adding them to existing ones from his repertoire, he is perpetuating Versailles’ long tradition of creativity. These manga-inspired sculptures are perfectly matched with the rooms and gardens of Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette’s ornate palace.
