Growing and guarding : Castello di Ama
Nestled in the hills of Chianti Classico is Ama, a small village almost 500 metres above sea level. Marco Pallanti and Lorenza Sebasti Pallanti chose to raise their family here, while producing wine and olive oil and developing their collaboration with the artists of the Galleria Continua in San Gimignano. Growing and Guarding presents the places and the works on display in Castello di Ama, tracing a path between food, wine, art and landscape.Works by great artists sit among olive groves, in the courtyards and in the hidden corners of Ama. Featured artists include Michelangelo Pistoletto, Daniel Buren, Giulio Paolini, Kendell Geers, Anish Kapoor, Chen Zhen, Carlos Garaicoa, Nedko Solakov, Cristina Iglesias, Louise Bourgeois, Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Pascale Marthine Tayou and Hiroshi Sugimoto. With texts by Marcello Fois, Philip Larratt-Smith and the Pallanti, and accompanied by colourful illustrations by Federico Maggioni.
