SETO SUSUMU TEA CUP
Seto Susumu works in his workshop in the snowy climes of Hokkiado, Japan's northern island.
His craft is urushi, traditional lacquerware. The process is long and each bowl is painstakingly crafted by hand. Seto-san's faceted wooden bowls and cups are his trademark works. This teacup is perfect for the daily tea ritual, and particularly suited to green teas.
Urushi, or lacquer, is a resin from a tree and has been used for centuries in Japan as the tough and durable finish on wooden tableware.
Treat as all woodenware, do not place in dishwasher nor leave to soak for extended perido of time. Wash with cloth in warm water with a mild detergent. Avoid storing urushi tableware in direct sunlight as that will cause deterioration of the lustre.
