  • Agar agar is a traditional thickening agent used in Japanese cooking. Obtained from algae, it is the vegan and vegetarian alternative to gelatin. Use in vegan-friendly desserts and as a thickening agent in savoury dishes.To use, dissolve in a boiling liquid - bring the liquid to a boil over a medium heat, reduce to a simmer and then stir in the agar agar until it is completely dissolved (approximately 10-15 minutes for flakes).
