  • The Okatsune 307 is the pure essence of the thinning shears.

    • Total length: 180 mm
    • Blade length: 35 mm
    • Lightweight: 105 gr
    • Blade thickness: 2.3 mm

The Okatsune 307 are very light and razor-sharp thinning shears with short blade (1 cm shorter than the 304). The shears have been specially designed to cut through harder (woody) stems as in the cuttings, harvesting, and thinning of vegetables, and fruit and for floristry work with woody stems. (For soft stemmed floristry work the 304 snips are recommended - so a perfect pair). The pointed, extremely thin blades (2.3 mm) ensure that you can reach even the tightest spaces, such as thinning of grapes, pears, or apples, Okatsune thinning shears are the undisputed number 1 in Japan.

    Uses:

    • Thinning and harvesting fruit from fruit trees and shrubs
    • Harvesting woody stemmed vegetables
    • Floristry work with woody or hard stems
    • Taking woody cuttings for propagation
    • Not suitable for branches - use Okatsune 103 pruning shears for those

    Technical specifics

The blades of these Japanese thinning shears (Mekiri Basami) are uniquely forged from the finest IZUMO YASUGI steel, and have a very high Rockwell hardness of 59 to 60. Therefore, the blades stay sharp for a long time and they consistently give a clean and precise cut in the wood, without giving much effort. Furthermore, Okatsune combines the hardness with a special flexibility, so that the cutting blade always aligns with the counter blade, even after intensive usage.

The blade has been ground in two angles, so it will also smoothly cut through wood, and will not unnecessarily damage the plant. Due to the unique shape of the hollow ground blade the sap flows away from the blade, and the blades will not come apart. The V-shape of the spring ensures that the cutting load is distributed evenly over the length of the spring making for a soft closing action. The Okatsune 307 is not suitable to cut branches.
